If you encounter an extender red light, no light or no Internet access after setting up your rockspace Wi-Fi range extender, follow the steps below to troubleshoot depending on your setup issues.
Fix rockspace Wi-Fi range extender setup issues
Case 1: The range extender's Signal LED is still solid red.
- Make sure your range extender is within an appropriate distance of receiving the router signal and there is not a lot of interference between them.
- Check the Wi-Fi password of the main router. Log in to the management page of your router if possible, and double-check the Wi-Fi password.
- Make sure the router doesn’t enable any security settings, like MAC Filtering or Access Control. And Authentication Type and Encryption type are Auto on the router.
- Check the encryption type of your router. rockspace AC extenders support WPA/WPA2 and AX extenders support WPA/WPA2/WPA3.
- Reconfigure the range extender. Put the range extender 2-3 meters away from the router. Factory reset it by pressing the Reset button for a few seconds, then configure the range extender from scratch.
- If the reconfiguration doesn’t work, please update the range extender to the latest firmware and configure it again.
Case 2: The range extender's Signal LED already turns solid blue, but end devices can’t connect to its Wi-Fi.
- Check the wireless signal strength of your end devices (your smartphone or computer). If only one end device cannot join the Wi-Fi of the range extender, remove the profile of the wireless network and connect it once again. And connect it to your router directly to see if it can connect.
- If multiple devices cannot connect to the extender’s network, please contact rockspace Support Team and tell us the error message if any.
Note: If you can’t find the range extender’s SSID (network name) after successful configuration, that’s because the range extender and the main router share the same SSID and password. Visit I cannot find my range extender's network after configuration, what do I do if you need more help.
Case 3: The range extender's Signal LED is off.
- Check the connected devices of your main router. Disconnect some devices and try again.
- Check the encryption type of your router. rockspace AC extenders support WPA/WPA2 and AX extenders support WPA/WPA2/WPA3.
- Log in to your router and add the range extender's MAC address to its whitelist.
- Factory reset the range extender and reconfigure it.
Case 4: No internet access after your end device (smartphone or computer) connects to the range extender.
- Check if the end device is set to obtain an IP Address automatically.
- Make sure the main router doesn’t enable any security settings, like MAC Filtering or Access Control.
- Connect the same end device to the main router directly to check its internet connectivity. Check its IP address and Default Gateway when connected to the router and range extender.
- Update the range extender to the latest firmware and reconfigure it.
